ADVENTURE

Okay so here it goes my first blog. What's good about a new adventure ?  Well, this is what I think... It allows change to happen naturally.  We felt our family needed a change. So we prayed to know what direction to take.  We felt like Utah was the direction to go. Alan has wanted to be an Elementary Principal for years .  It was time to move on to that goal.  He applied anywhere there was an opening in Utah . The one place we never thought we would end up is Manila . It's a tiny little community right by Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area.  Alan applied there because it was a principal / teacher position.  But in the end it turned out to be just a teacher position and the only job offer he got.  It felt right though. So we said yes to the offer.  The cons about moving there are....
Huge pay cut ,  shopping is 1 hour away,  get paid once a month, it's not a principal position, and I don't get a bigger house. My three boys still have to share a bedroom. No extra living room for the kids to play in. I can live with all of that because I know that's where we are supposed to be.  The pros to moving to Manila are....the school and class sizes are small. Our kids will do better educationally and socially.  Having a lower budget will help us to plan more carefully, and eat more healthy.  I am looking forward to having a slower pace of life.  We want to get back on a regular routine of. Eating together breakfast and dinner every day.  We are within a 5 min. Walk to the schools. So if they all start at the same time we can easily get up in the morning and have scripture study , family prayer, and breakfast together!  I am really looking forward to that.  Here in NV we were all getting up and leaving at different times. The girls left at 6:00, Alan and Joseph left at 7:00 and the other two boys left at 8:30.  I know people who just get their whole family up at 5:00 am. That did not work for us.   Anyway another pro is really good medical insurance that covers the whole family, plus our house is district housing and we only have to pay $475 a month. I am also excited to meet our new ward. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints we will have an instant family as we move to a strange new place.  I love the outdoor so I am looking forward to exploring the Flaming Gorge Area.  Also we are only 2/12 hours from SLC Instead of 8 hours. IT will be easier to meet up with family and friends as they gather there for occasional get togethers.

So here we go only 12 days left. We have lots to do before we go. Until next time.  If anyone has any advise on how to prepare kids for a move that would be,great.  Have a happy day.  Life is Good.
Sue

  2. Hi Sue,
I'm glad I found this blog, as I searched for an updated phone # for your family. It was nice reading more of the way you arrived at your decision to move to Manila. I hope you read this soon & can text Johnna (she says she'll have voice minutes again on Saturday, the 1st). Robert's birthday is today, so I'm certain he would love to hear from Joseph!
Finally, know you're missed by many here, & yet wished well with your new venue. Congrats for your faithful decision & more user-friendly family schedules
Take care & please tell Alan he's also loved, missed & well-wished!
